Yousician piano has two modes for song play; Practice and Play. You can access practice mode by selecting Practice on the song start screen, and play mode by selecting Play. You can also toggle between the two modes from the Pause menu.
Practice mode
When you play a song in Practice mode, it restarts at the end so you can keep practicing. The options on the screen include the Tempo slider.
- Tempo slider: Adjust the speed of the song to practice at your own pace.
Options menu
Tap or click anywhere on the screen and select Options from the Pause menu. You can access the audio, and notation settings and the Mixer feature.
You can also adjust these features:
- Play for me: Hear what the note or chord should sound like using the synthesizer.
- Auto-adjust speed: The app controls the song speed and adjusts it up or down depending on how you play. It works from 25% to 125% in 5% increments. You can also change the tempo by moving the slider.
- Metronome: Add a steady beat to help you maintain tempo while practicing.
- Mute song: Practice without the backing track.
- Loop lead-in: Get a one-bar-count-in at restart.
For more information about the benefits of using a metronome, check out this Yousician How-to.
The progress bar at the bottom of the screen shows your position in a song. You can loop any section by moving the sliders. Check the video about the benefits of using loops.
When you practice songs with two hands you can toggle off one, and practice the other, by selecting between the Left or Right hand options.
Play mode
Play mode allows you to put your skills into action and progress in the learning path. You can also play songs for stars and points as rewards for your progress.
When you start a song, or a part of one, your points multiplier begins at 3x - you see it in the top left corner of the screen. The better you play, the higher the multiplier. By hitting notes correctly and with good timing, you can boost the multiplier up to 5x, giving you more points for your performance.
