GuitarTuna is an app for tuning, learning, and playing guitar. It combines a library of 20,000+ guitar songs with chords and tabs, guitar courses, song video tutorials, and a precise tuner. The app also includes ear training and chord games for guitar and ukulele, as well as tunings for other stringed instruments. You can use it on iOS and Android, and on the web at guitartuna.com.
How many songs does GuitarTuna have?
GuitarTuna offers a library of 20,000+ songs with chords and tabs. The catalog includes both chord versions and tab versions of songs. The transcriptions are professionally produced for quality and reliability, so you can practice with confidence.
Are the chords and tabs accurate?
Yes — GuitarTuna's chords and tabs are professionally transcribed and maintained for quality and reliability. If you ever spot something that doesn't sound right in a particular song, you can let us know, and we'll review it.
Does GuitarTuna have guitar courses?
Yes. GuitarTuna includes guitar courses built around specific skills, such as beginner basics, essential chords, strumming, barre chords, and power chords. They are designed to help you develop technique step by step. You can explore them at guitartuna.com/courses.
Are there video tutorials for songs?
Yes. GuitarTuna includes thousands of songs with video tutorials that show you how to play each one.
What instruments can I tune with GuitarTuna?
You can tune 6-, 7-, and 12-string guitars, ukulele, bass, mandolin, violin, and other stringed instruments. Beyond standard tunings, it offers over 100 popular tunings — including drop/power tunings, open tunings, half- and full-step-down, and chromatic tuning. Standard tunings are free; other tunings are included in the GuitarTuna Tools membership.
Can I use GuitarTuna on the web?
Yes. In addition to the iOS, and Android apps you can access GuitarTuna on the web at guitartuna.com, including thousands of songs from various artists and genres, as well as tuners for guitar, bass, ukulele, violin, mandolin, and banjo.
What tools and games are included in the Tools tab?
- A metronome (30–240 BPM) with adjustable time signatures.
- A chord library with chords and finger recommendations for guitar and ukulele, including chord variations, octaves, and sharp/flat toggles, plus audio playback.
- Chord-learning minigames — such as Learn Chords, Chord Diagrams, Ear Trainers, Play Chords You See, Play from Memory, and a Custom Chord game — to help you recognize and play chord shapes.
What's the difference between Play and Learn songs?
The Songs tab includes two types of songs:
- Play songs do not include a backing track. They have a black background.
- Learn songs include a backing track to play along with. They have a blue background.
You can search the Songs tab by artist or song title, and your collection keeps a history of songs you've accessed as well as any you've added as favorites.
Songs require an active internet connection and aren't available offline. Play songs are included with the GuitarTuna Play membership. Add Learn song access with the GuitarTuna Unlimited membership.
GuitarTuna premium membership options
GuitarTuna offers three premium options:
